The 2012 ‘Arbor Camp’ was another great success by the Queensland Arboriculture Association. The event was held over three information and action packed days in the foothills of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. There was a fantastic turn out of sponsors, industry members and volunteer’s. This year’s event looked at advanced tree climbing techniques and an emphasis on safety and rescue. The Consultants also had a full schedule of informative and updating seminars aimed to promote a high quality of service for the public.
The Stony Creek Scout Park was a perfect venue, with a host of beautiful trees and ample space for all nearly 200 attendees. Both the local scouts and Vietnam Veterans put in a lot of work to help the organisers run this even smoothly.
Ben Inman took the well-worn reins this year’s event coordinator. From all of us at Evergreen Tree Care, we would like to thank you for your great work and for continuing such a difficult role. A role in which previous coordinator of many years Simon Maloney managed with aplomb. It was great to see many industry legends and up in coming individuals. However there were some faces not there and it would be great to see your input next year.
The event would never work without the input of the volunteers. These people invest much of their time and money to make this event a well-run machine, while encouraging those new to the industry to remain relevant, safe and touch with others. Thank you to all those who helped and we look forward to ‘Arbor Camp’ 2013.
